Thuja Green Giant Benefits for Smaller Spaces
The perfect pick for privacy in smaller spaces, the Junior Giant Thuja Tree is ideal for those who love the Thuja Green Giant but have a small yard. If you’re looking for privacy benefits in a more manageable package, the Junior Giant Thuja Tree is the solution you’ve been asking for!
And it’s still one of the finest evergreens for use as screening or a windbreak due to its upright, uniform shape. The Junior rarely needs pruning, thrives in southern heat and humidity, and stands up to freezing temperatures down to -10 degrees.
Adding privacy trees is the best thing you can do to raise your home’s value. The Junior Giant is no exception, delivering Thuja perks in an easier form that tops out at 10 to 20 feet instead of 50 feet.
Unlike traditional Thujas, the Junior Giant lets the sunshine into your yard. It’s versatile, whether you’ve planted a screen to keep out neighbors or planted it in a pot. Container-planted Junior Giants are ideal for framing entryways, providing privacy for city terraces or even growing indoors. The Junior Giant can thrive almost anywhere and stand up to any tough conditions while keeping your landscape open…just not to nosy neighbors or unsightly views!

Planting & Care
1. Planting: Choose an area with well-drained soil and full sun (6 to 8 hours of sunlight daily).
Dig a hole that’s three times as wide as the root ball but just as deep. Place the tree, backfill the soil, and tamp down. Finally, water the tree to settle the roots and mulch to conserve moisture.
If you’re container-planting, select a pot that’s about twice the size of your tree’s shipped container. Make sure your pot has drainage holes.
Plant with organic soil and place your Junior Giant in its pot. After planting, place the pot in a sunny area on your porch or in front of a sunny window.
2. Watering: For the first two weeks, water your new tree every other day by holding a hose around it and counting to 20. If you don’t have a hose, 2 large watering cans full of water will do (smaller trees may only need a light soaking so a single can may suffice).
During the second two weeks, switch to watering every three days with the same method mentioned above. After the first month, water once a week unless it is dry and hot (no rain and temperatures above 80 degrees). If it is hot and dry, water twice a week. After the first six months, the trees will be established and won’t need any extra water. Your natural rainfall should be sufficient at this stage.
3. Pruning: You won’t have to prune this tree unless you’d like to shear for shaping purposes. In that case, you can prune your tree yearly in late spring.
