Planting & Care
1. Planting: An adequate planting location is important for your Fine Line®’s growth. When you’re ready to plant this variety, choose an area with well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade – preferably an area that’s slightly shaded but receives 4 to 8 hours of sun each day. When it’s time to plant, dig a hole that’s twice the size of the shrub’s root ball, place your plant and back fill the soil. Finally, water to settle its roots.
2. Watering: Water your plant regularly during the first full growing season, about once per week. If you’re not sure when to water your Buckthorn, simply check the soil about 2 to 3 inches down – if the soil is dry in this area, it’s time to water. After your Fine Line® is established, less frequent watering is fine.
3. Pruning: Pruning is unnecessary for this shrub, but if you’d like to shape it, trim it during the fall season.
4. Fertilizer: Apply a well-balanced, time-release fertilizer to your Buckthorn in the spring for best results.
