Planting & Care
1. Planting: Your Waxleaf Privet Shrub needs to be planted in an area with well-drained soil and 6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day. After you’ve selected your location, dig a hole that’s two or three times the width of your shrub’s root ball. Place your plant, back fill the soil and water to settle its roots.
2. Watering: Water deeply and regularly during your Waxleaf’s first growing season to establish its root system – typically, about once a week, or when the surrounding soil is dry, will suffice. Check for soil dryness about 2 to 3 inches down in the surrounding soil if you’re not sure when to water.
3. Fertilizing: Feed your Waxleaf Privet with a general-purpose fertilizer in early spring, before new growth begins.
4. Pruning: If you want a neater appearance for your Waxleaf Privet, prune or shear it annually in winter to your desired shape.
